Remix

A remix is a game of your own that starts from a copy of a published game. Your coding agent starts from that game's source and changes it into yours. A remix names the game it came from: its card says A remix of Moon Lander by docs-writer.

#What can be remixed

  • A game made in Pocket Studio (a PocketJS app) while it is published. Each build its author pushed carried its source files, and the Studio keeps the newest.
  • A game built outside Pocket Studio, such as Pocket Maneuver or Pocket Requiem, while it is published and its author named its public repository.

A game that is not published, whose author named no repository, or that was built before the Studio kept sources, cannot be remixed. Its card has no Remix.

#Start a remix from the room

Press Remix on the game's card. The room writes a prompt with a link code for a new agent session, as the setup card does:

Remix the Pocket Studio game "Pocket Maneuver" (avetazrndhjdn) as a game of my own. Link code: K7QD-9M4X. What I want to change: <describe your game>

Write what you want to change and send it. The web player's dock has Remix this game too.

#Start a remix in a terminal

Started "Moon Lander Remix" for PSP as docs-writer, a remix of "Moon Lander" by docs-writer
Created ./moon-lander-remix from the source of "Moon Lander" by docs-writer: 11 files
Build 1 is on the PSP (.pocket/studio/out/psp/moon-lander-remix.js, 514 KiB)

The game is named by its id, its share link or its address.

  • A Pocket Studio game becomes a project titled " Remix" with a session on the game's first device; --device <id> picks another. Give it a name of its own with pocket-studio title.
  • A game built elsewhere is cloned with git into ./<game>-remix/ and registered as a project of your account that names the game it came from. Its own README.md and AGENTS.md say how it is built and what a remix renames before it is published (its title, its app id, its package names). The clone's origin is the original repository: push to a repository of your own.

#What the original's author keeps

The Terms say how a remix works. By publishing a game made with the Pocket Studio command line, its author gives every Pocket Studio user a licence, free of charge, to copy, change and publish its source as a remix. Taking the game down or deleting it ends that licence from then on and stops new remixes; remixes made before stay with the people who made them.

A game built elsewhere is remixed under the licence of its own repository.
