Pocket New York is Slop New York, mrdoob's three.js Manhattan built from NYC Open Data and OpenStreetMap, compiled for a handheld. The island is the original's island: its streets and blocks, its buildings and their facades, its trees, lamps, signs and landmarks, from the Battery to 125th Street.
Go on foot, in a yellow taxi, on a bicycle or in a sightseeing helicopter, at the original's four hours: the golden hour, midday, the blue hour and midnight. The traffic keeps its lanes and its signals, people walk the sidewalks and cross at the crosswalks, and the highway's cars run along the rivers. The original's cameras go with it, from the chase to the Empire State Building's deck, and eight landmarks are a press away.
The light follows the original's: linear light from the sky, the ground and the sun, its grade and tone curve for each hour, its haze, its sky and its bloom. The sun's depth map gives trees, lamp posts and cars their shadows; at night the street lamps light the road and the wet asphalt mirrors them.
On a PS Vita it draws 960 × 544 at 30 frames a second with a GXM renderer of its own, in two samples a pixel, streaming the 380 MB city from the memory card. In a browser it draws the same city with a WebGPU renderer of its own, in a PS Vita's shell whose keys are the controls.
The source is MIT, as the original's is: github.com/pocket-nexus/pocket-newyork. The city's data comes from NYC Open Data and OpenStreetMap (ODbL).
